Credibility in leadership talks about how loyal, committed, energetic and productive of a particular leader.
Among the qualities of a good leader is credibility, now I will be discussing emphatically on those attributes that increase the credibility of a leader which are as follows:
Autonomy and sense of responsibility
Good leaders are also those who allow their team to develop autonomy and ensure added value according to their own personal strengths.
Being able to recognize the strengths of individuals within their team and allow them to be responsible and accountable not only increases employee confidence in themselves and their leader but will also increase their performance.
A good leader will be able to manage the members of his team by offering them support and giving them constructive comments in order to develop their talents and potential.
Authenticity
An important quality that any good leader must have is authenticity, that is, their ability to remain true to themselves, their beliefs, and their values. In fact, a good leader must not just remain true to himself, but must also be able to adequately transfer his values and beliefs to his team.
A good leader should not only be able to effectively communicate his own values and beliefs, but also those of the organization, as well as its overall goals.
Good communication skills
Even if it seems obvious, communication skills are considered by most to be the most important qualities of a leader. The good leader must have this essential skill to be able to achieve his ultimate goals.
This makes a good leader a better negotiator and to better manage and resolve conflicts. Being able to clearly explain any situation and justifying the decision made not only makes team members more comfortable with the decision but also allows them to give more credibility to the leader.
By ensuring that the team understands its objectives, this will have a crucial impact on their performance and chances of success.
Being able to communicate well the How, What, Where, and Why of an organization's objective ensures that everyone goes harmoniously in one and the same direction. Leaders with good communication skills are also perceived to be more credible.
Look for the problem and solving them
The good leader is able to conduct an investigation well and will have the natural instinct to do so. Being more sceptical motivates the good leader to question everything; the Who, What, Where, How and Why of any situation.
This series of questions identify not only potential strengths and weaknesses but also why they arise and how they can be optimized.
Do not use manipulation or persuasion
The second key to this article is playing and supporting your honesty. How you just saw it in the title, you will have to put aside all attempts at manipulation or will to influence the person with whom you speak.
Because if you are caught trying to persuade to get what you want, you are putting your reputation at risk.
Indeed, a bad reputation will be complicated to redeem, and your credibility will be impacted by it. Be transparent and fluid in what you tell, especially if you are talking about yourself.
Keep your promises
If there is something that guarantees the credibility of others, it is the respect of commitments. Breaking pacts or agreements destroys people's confidence. Always avoid committing to something if you are not sure you can do or get it.
The goal of this step is to show others that you can offer them something which is already good. But what is more, you are really going to do what you say. No more broken promises, explanations and other justifications.
If you apply this method of promising and acting afterwards, you will be very different from other people.
Reward a job well done
It is a classic in the world of team management, but never forget the importance of rewarding the good work of your team: a simple thank you note, an invitation to lunch, a small gift. There are many ways to reward your team.
Learn to say "no"
Sometimes it is easier to gain credibility by saying "no" than by agreeing on absolutely everything. Do not feel guilty if you have to refuse something, do it.
Control your emotions
Managing teams is not a simple task. It will sometimes be difficult to control your emotions and contain your temper, but if you are too emotional, it may affect your management. Stay calm in tense situations to gain respect.
